                                    By George and Roneeza.
Learning Intention-we are learning to write about the 2004 summer Olympics.
Success Criteria:I know I can do this when I can write information about 2004 Olympic torch.

History of the flame:
The ancient Greeks believed that fire was given to the humankind by '' prometheus '' and considered to have a sacred qualities.Mirrors were used to focus the sun rays to ignite flames that wold burn perpetually in front of the Greek temples. The Olympics flame began in 1936 in Berlin games. 3,330 runners brought the torch with flames.
Today, the Olympics flame is is list in front of the ruins of the Temple of Hera in Olympia, Greece.

Host Country: Athens, Greece

First torch lighter: Kostas Gatsioudis- silver medallist in Running.

Last torch lighter: Kikolaos KaklamanaRis- silver medallist sailing.

Meaning of the torch design: The torch was inspired By an (Olive tree) leaf. The design was selected to enhance the flame with its upward dynamic shape. Its ergonomic curved design establishes the torch as the coainuation of the flame, which in turn rises as a continuation of the torchbearers hand.It is made of metal (magnesium) and wood (Oliver tree.)It is also represents the fire seemed to come straight from the torchbearers hand.
